Title: Teen suicide: A mother's story, resources, intervention and prevention

Summary:
This article was about this kid he committed suicide and he was 15 and attending East Jordan High School. It was also about how sad it is to have someone in your life commit suicide especially a young teen.

Reflection:
This article was shocking to me because of how many teens have commited suicide in the lasy few years.

Evidence:
  • Two more committed suicide after this kid
  • After the three kids that committed suicide, the school brought in therapists just in case.
  • It is a lot different than a car accident, these kids chose to commit suicide and people in car accidents don't choose to die.
Questions:
Why don't more people care about this, this is a big issue?
Why hasn't anybody taken charge about this issue?

This article was just all about suicide like prevention, warning signs, depression. I mainly focused on the warning signs.

Reflection:
This article shocked me because they interveiwed kids that attempted suicide but got stopped, and that was very sad and they said that they were depressed and got bullied into suicide.

Evidence:
  • A sign of suicide is if the kid is talking about death
  • Giving away personal possesions
  • Having no interest in hobbies or favorite activities
  • Having trouble concentrating
Questions:
Do parents sometimes cause teen suicide?

Summary: This article was basically about teen depression and how to prevent teens from committing suicide.

Reflection: This article was interesting because I learned why teens sommit suicide and  how to prevent that from happening.

Evidence:
  •  Being nice and happy to them is not enough to stop them being depressed.
  • If your friend or family member is even having thoughts right away call 911 before it gets serious.
  • Teens often change their behavior unexpectedly.
  • If your friend is having thoughts about suicide, tell an adult or teacher or something before it gets serious.
Questions:

Why do kids have to bully kids?
How can other people know about this issue, that is so big?

Teen Commits Suicide Due to Bullying

Title: Teen Commits Suicide Due to Bullying

Summary:
Eric Mohat commited suicide because of bully's he was at age 17. He was harassed by bullys calling him homo and gay and queer. Those bullys caused this teen to decide to commit suicide. The teacher and the athletic coach did nothing to help Eric from the bullies. So after he committed suicide, the parents of Eric sued the school for not helping Eric.

Reflection:
This is very shocking because he was an innocent kid that got bullied from some kids and then caused him to commit suicide, we need to raise awareness of this we can't keep having kids commit suicide because of someone else. The numbers have tripled over 25 years of 15-24 year old teens committing suicide.

Evidence:
  • Eric's father said that "when you lose a child like this it destroys you in ways that you can't even describe.
  • The school made a anti-bullying system.
  • The teacher and athletic teacher failed to protect Eric.
  • Parents filed a lawsuit.
Questions:
Why the teachers didn't even think of helping Eric?
Why didn't people try to help Eric? like his parents?
How do I raise awareness?

Reflection: This article shocked me because the facts of how many teens commit suicide in the world and we are doing nothing to help these teens in need.

Evidence: In the past 25 years suicide from 15-24 years of ge has tripled over the 25 years. Any suicidal gesutres even if they are harmless, they need to get help right away and see a professional. Signs of suicidal are change in eating habits, change in sleeping habits, Depression, lack of energy and many more so if your kid has any of those things in their life, I would make sure they see a professional.

Questions: Why is that in 25 years that it tripled over 25 years?

Dallas School Staff Finds 9-Year-Old Boy Hanging in Bathroom

Summary:
This article was about this 9 year old boy who hung himself in the bathroom, this happened last Thursday. The father was trying to deny it because he didn't want him to die.

Reflection:
This article is important because a 9 year old boy committed suicide when he had a lot of stuff ahead of him. This article affected that school because now they are going to watch the kids more carefully now, also they had a bunch of police and investigators come to the school to investigate and no one so far is getting charged for any crimes so that means that they are pretty sure that it was a suicide. This happened in Dallas, Texas. They had a note on the bulletin saying "you are our super hero, we love you and miss you dearly. This is meant for the kid who committed suicide. Suicides happen rarely with young children,

Focus Adolescent Service

Title: This Article was about the statistics of teen suicide and the prevention of it.

Summary:
How you can tell if your kid is starting to have thoughts about suicide is, If his personality has changed over the few weeks and he has seemed depressed, dramatic mood swings. Then I would watch out for thoughts of suicide. If parents have firearms in their household with a teenage kid, that how most teenagers try to commit suicide. There was just a kid that just committed suicide the other day and he hung himself at school, he was only 9 years old. This is really sad.

Reflection: This article shocked me because a 9 year old kid died of committing suicide we need to start raising awareness of teenage suicide, it is not cool that kids die because of other people who bully or are rejected by their friends.

Questions: Why do kids decide to put their lives at stake?

Teen Suicide #1

This article was about facts and statistics about teenage suicide here are the information that i found in the article. There were some interesting facts about it, so here they are.

Kids get thoughts of suicide are divorced parents, rejected from friends, depressed, and death of someone important. Teen females are likely to commit suicide then males but older males are more likely to commit suicide then females. Here are some numbers on teen suicide: More than 13 of 100,00 teens from 15-24 committed suicide in 1990. Teen suicides have tripled the amount since 1970.

I thought what struck me was how many teens it bounced up from in the last 30 years, that is just really shocking to me.It is scary how many teens die in a year that have committed suicide.
